Instructions on How to Use Marines

Years ago, we had a Marine General Officer come down to talk to us at the War College. He gave us something like "Instructions on How to Use Marines". He said that there was no such thing as an "ex Marine", they come from a peculiar cut of cloth and they can't be changed after use.

They are the "tip of the spear" and as such, won't follow other troops into combat. They require simple instructions; if your requirements are complex, get a lawyer, not a Marine.

They require close supervision, but only by other Marines. If you ever have a Marine unit reporting to you, tell its leader that you will personally be in touch with the Commandant.

Be sure that your Marines are equipped with only the oldest Navy equipment available, otherwise they will feel that you are sucking up to them.

This guy really had a sense of humor but he made his point.

This was sent to me by and "Old Marine" friend, and is a true story. Enjoy
